Up to $5,000 available for distribution to worthy recipients

BUFFALO, Minn. – The Minnesota Turkey Growers Association (MTGA) and Minnesota Turkey Research & Promotion Council's (MTRPC) Ranelius Scholarship program is designed to encourage students enrolled in or who plan to enroll in a post-secondary educational institution in or out of the state of Minnesota to prepare for a career in the turkey industry. A total of $5,000 annually is available to distribute to eligible students.

“The MTGA is proud to financially support post-secondary education for students interested in working in the turkey industry,” said Paul Kvistad, MTGA President and farmer from Wood Lake. “There is a great need for innovative talent in the turkey industry workforce.”

Eligible students must be a resident of the state of Minnesota. Preference will be given to those who have plans for a future career in the turkey industry, are a family member or employee of a MTGA member, achieved a high scholastic record and haven’t previously received a MTGA scholarship.

“The turkey industry offers a wide array of career opportunities – especially in Minnesota where we are the number one producer of turkeys in the nation,” said Sarah Anderson, MTGA Executive Director. “Students interested in careers at home or abroad will see their dreams come true in our ag sector.”

Recipients may be asked to participate as a Minnesota Turkey ambassador at public events during the year. Scheduling will be mutually agreed upon and all expenses will be reimbursed.
